TEACHING METHODS

     During my observation at SD Laboratorium UM, the teachers applied student-centered teaching methods for Grade 1, 2, and 3 students, encouraging them to actively participate, explore concepts, and practice skills independently. The lessons in English, Science, and Math involved interactive discussions, hands-on activities, and experiments. These methods allowed students to engage actively with the content, develop critical thinking, and gain practical experience while learning at their own pace.


TEACHING MATERIALS AND INNOVATION

    The teachers used a variety of learning materials to support the lessons in English, Science, and Math. These included worksheets, workbooks, visual aids, and the school’s workbooks, which are carefully structured to follow the curriculum. The workbooks serve as the main guide for lesson planning, helping teachers organize the sequence of topics, set learning objectives, and ensure that all essential content is covered for each grade level. Worksheets and workbooks complement each other by providing practice exercises, review activities, and opportunities for students to apply what they have learned in a structured way.
    To make learning more engaging and interactive, the teachers incorporated innovative approaches such as group discussions, hands-on experiments, educational games, and real-life problem-solving tasks. For example, in Science, students might observe experiments or perform simple investigations to understand a concept, while in Math, teachers sometimes use games or practical examples to illustrate abstract ideas. These innovative methods help students connect classroom learning with real-world applications, making the lessons more meaningful and easier to understand.
     These materials and methods not only support content mastery but also encourage students to develop essential skills. By working independently or in small groups, students learn to think critically, communicate effectively, and take responsibility for their own learning. The combination of structured workbooks, supplemental materials, and interactive activities allows students to move beyond rote memorization and develop practical, long-lasting skills that can be applied in future learning and everyday life.


SOURCES OF LEARNING AND TEACHNOLOGY USED BY THE TEACHERS

     For sources of learning, the teachers primarily followed the textbooks for each grade, supplemented by worksheets, PDFs, and online resources such as educational websites and YouTube videos for additional explanations and demonstrations. In terms of technology, the teachers used projectors, multimedia presentations, and other digital tools to present concepts visually, demonstrate steps, and support interactive learning. This combination of structured textbooks, supplemental resources, and technology allowed students in Grades 1, 2, and 3 to learn actively while receiving guidance and feedback from the teachers.
