ACADEMIC SUPPORT SYSTEM
SD Laboratorium Universitas Negeri Malang (SD LAB UM) provides a comprehensive academic support system to help students succeed both in school and in life, combining a strong curriculum with enrichment programs and supportive learning environments. The school integrates the national curriculum with international elements like the International Class Program and offers bilingual instruction to strengthen core academic skills, especially in English, mathematics, and science. SD LAB UM also enriches learning through music, computer and coding classes, literacy programs, art, and Qur’an study, while activities like exhibitions, creative projects, and outings promote critical thinking and student confidence. Teachers collaborate to deliver engaging instruction and maintain communication with parents, and the school fosters a nurturing community that supports academic growth, character development, and creativity.
TEACHING SYSTEM
During my observation, the teachers used a student-centered teaching system supported by both printed and digital learning materials. The students were provided with worksheets that guided them through the lesson activities and helped them practice the key concepts. To further explain the lesson, the teachers will explain the topic and use multimedia resources such as YouTube videos and prepared PDF materials. These resources help students understand the lesson more clearly by showing demonstrations and visual explanations. The teachers give clear instructions, monitor student work, and provide feedback, while students actively participate, discuss, and complete tasks individually or in groups. This teaching system encourages students to become active and independent learners while still receiving support and guidance from the teachers.
